Fake news and what to do about it

"Lots of things you read online especially in your social media feeds may appear to be true, often is not. Fake news is news, stories or hoaxes created to deliberately misinform or deceive readers. Usually, these stories are created to either influence people’s views, push a political agenda or cause confusion and can often be a profitable business for online publishers. Fake news stories can deceive people by looking like trusted websites or using similar names and web addresses to reputable news organizations." People are being "fake" influenced by people that create fake news. It is hard for government to keep people in track if they get influenced to believe in something that is not true. It creates rebellion and that might be a very bad thing for the government. I do agree that the US government has to address this issue because people are misinformed, and might become against them because the have "fake" information to back their argument.

It is a very complicated topic to talk about because, us consumers of the media we are not sure what is fake and what is not. It always comes to my mind this question; what if the government is saying that it is fake news, but it is actually not fake but it is not convenient for them that this information goes to public? I try to not get involved in this topics because I end up thinking many bad things and creates an existential problem for me. But, if people are actually being influenced by actual fake news, then they should do something about it, maybe try to incorporate what Singapore is trying to do.
